Declutter Challenge: January 2015

Decluttering Challenge is yet another challenge I want to take. I came across this blog post by From Overwhelmed to Organized  entitled 365 Items in 365 Days Decluttering Challenge. The Rule for this Challenge is to declutter 365 (or more) items from your house and it has to leave your home. Either you donate it, sell it, give it to others or throw it away if the first three things are not applicable. So I start this challenge today.

I woke up early today and the first thing that came to my mind was to clean up all the mess I am seeing inside our room. Today I focused on decluttering my "dresser table" (It is actually an old computer table that I covered with pink wrapper and plastic to look a little feminine and to hide the wear and tear on the table).

Before: My Dresser Table on State of Calamity :)

What a mess, right? Well, I'm a bit busy these past few days since I am currently taking up cooking class so I got no time to clean up. Excuses! Excuses! hahaha. There's a lot on my dresser table that has been sitting there for ages, accumulating tons of dust. Most of them are lipsticks.

This is how my dresser table looks like after decluttering and organizing my stuff. What I don't know is how long it will stay organized.

Before (Left) and After (right)
And I am saying goodbye to these. Half of my lipsticks goes straight to the garbage can. I want to sing ♫♪Goodbyeeeee!, I hate to see you go, lalalalalala ♫♪. I'll try to do another posts about these lippies that I once loved and treasured. :)

Presenting my very organized dresser table.

This has been my first decluttering activity. I will post another one once I am done decluttering and organizing another part of our humble abode.

Do you have any decluttering and organizing tips, you want to share? Don't be shy and leave a couple of tips at the comment section below.

Until here!
See You soon folks!

My 2015 Challenges

Hello guys! How are you today? I hope everyone is fine. Anyway, I want to share you some of the challenges I set for myself. The challenges I want to win this 2015.

1. 52 weeks Challenge. This is a long-term challenge. If you have read my Dream board post, saving is the first thing on my list. I came across this challenge last year, but only this year that I decided to take this challenge seriously. It's simple as 1-2-3. All you need is

1. A goal. Mine is to save at least 60,000 this year.
2. A piggy bank where you can put your savings, or a separate bank account if the amount is big enough to open up a new account.
3. A 52-week challenge docs that will be your guide the whole saving process.

How to do this challenge?

1. You need to set a starting amount. Any amount will do. In my case, my starting amount is P10. What?! You probably want to ask me, how the hell I am going to save up at least 60k, if my starting amount is just P10, that's P13,780 only for 52 weeks? Well, aside from this challenge my husband and I, put 4k a month in a cooperative where we can withdraw our contribution plus interest earned by our money by the end of the year. So there goes our savings mostly. So we can achieve our the 60k goal by the end of the year. Anyway, let's get back to business.

2. The amount you are saving is compounding as the week progress. If for example your starting amount is 10 on the first week, you will need to save P20 for the 2nd week, P30 for the third week, so on and so forth. In short, it's always plus P10 to your previous savings. Kindly refer to the table below.

3. Check out the weeks that you already fulfilled. This way, you can see your progress.

4. The most important thing is to NEVER, EVER spend the money you are saving. your challenge will all be nothing but useless.

I hope you can do this challenge too. It's so nice to have savings for future needs.

2. 50 Books Challenge. As in actual book and not an e-book. I sign up for this challenge just today. It doesn't matter if the books are brand new, second hand, new release or a very old book. Just as long as it's interesting. And because of this challenge, I will surely visit a lot a thrift shop where I can shop for second hand and old books by my favorite authors. I also want to try genre other than what I usually read. This is also a long-term challenge. So good luck to me.

3. The No Junk Foods Challenge. I dubbed this one as the "How to die in 21 days". hahahaha. Just Kidding. :) This challenge looks pretty simple, but if you see the list, you will likely ask yourself, "Can I do this?", "Can I live without all these sweets?". I can't blame you. I also asked myself that question a lot of times. In fact, I'm still reluctant to try this one. I can't let go of my Ice Cream and Soda yet. But since I want to have a healthy life style I'll give this challenge a try. I probably won't die not eating these. This is actually a short-term challenge (21 days) but can be a long-term if you want to continue doing it. Not a bad idea living without junk foods all the way. ;)

So there you go. I may add other challenges short term and long term as 2015 progress. Hope you can share the challenges you are doing right now, so I can maybe try it later. And I hope that you can also try these challenges. And have fun!

Until Next Time!
See you soon folks!

My 2015 Dream Board

Hello, everyone! Happy New Year! This is going to be my first post for the year so I want to start it by sharing you my dreams by presenting you my dream board. A few weeks back, I joined BDJ x Canon's Dream Board Contest. I didn't win the major prize (Canon Selphy) but instead got a Canon Journal as consolation prize. But anyway, due to that contest, I was able to finish my Dream Board.

What is a Dream Board? A dream board is a place where you put your dreams (Personal Life, Career, Relationship, Health, Financial and a lot more) either on an illustration board, cork board or other types of board. You start by thinking about your goals and then cut-out photos of people, places, quotes,  and etc. from magazines that best represent that dreams.

Here's my dream board entry to the contest.

MY DREAM BOARD
I put it above my mirror on my "dresser" table, so it's the first thing I see in the morning and the last at night. I also printed a copy of my dream board and put it in my planner so I can be inspired to work on it wherever I am since I carry my planner every time.

Here's what's in my dream board.

1. Save to have financial freedom . We (hubby and I) can only achieve financial freedom if we start saving up for our future. I want us to have financial independence even if both of us are no longer actively working. For this year, our target savings ranges from 60,000 - 70,000.  So both of us has to work hard.

2. I want to be a chef. This has been my long time dream. I have don't have much money to attend prestigious culinary academy, but since our municipality has Vocational and Techinical School that offers different courses including Cookery, I decided to enroll. In fact, our first class will be held tomorrow. So I am kind of excited to act on pursuing this dream of mine.

3. I want to Travel. I rarely travel, and whenever I travel, I can't go that far. First because I can't go alone since my husband is working. Second, because we are on a tight budget. So I want to save and travel in the future. I want to go to Palawan, Bohol and Korea. :)

4. Family Life: I dream of becoming a mom. Though hubby and I are working on it. hehehe, ;-)

5. Be Healthy always. My goal is to loose some weight. I kinda gained weight especially during the holidays. I started working out and started eating healthy. an old saying says "Health is Wealth".

So, that's it.  How about you? Do you have a dream board? If you don't have, are you planning to make one? I hope you can also make yours. It is so nice to have something to look forward and something to work on.
So until next time.
See you soon folks!
