Post Event:BDJ Rendezvous - Art of Now

I love attending BDJ events. As much as possible I want to attend them all. So when I wasn't chosen to join their July events (BDJ Box Soiree : Unmask Beauty with Vedette and BDJ Passion Series: Portrait Me Flawless), I was a little heart broken. hehehe.

That's why when Sis Grace Aragon sent me a message asking me if I want to go with her to this event I immediately said YES.

The event was held at Mega Atrium Lobby, SM Megamall last August 6.

The event was hosted by Ms. Tracy Abad. And a BDJ event will never be complete without games and raffle prizes. so we kicked it off by having the first game which was sponsored by Jergens. The first 3 early birds were also awarded.. Yaahoo! I'm one of them. hahaha. We received  a Water Cushion Foundation from the The Face Shop PH.

ART of CREATIVITY  by sisters Roma and Maan Agsalud (of Pop.Junk.Love and Commom Room PH). They talked about how they started PopJunkLove and later on establishing Common Room PH (with 2 branches now). When they started the business, they don't have any background in management as they're graduate of Political Science and Mass Comm  (hope I'm correct with their courses) respectively. All they have was their passion and love for arts and crafts and their P5000 capital. What I learned from them is that, you have to stop making excuses and find ways to be resourceful and creative if you really want to do something. And when you think you're having a hard time and you find yourself getting tired of what you are doing, don't hesitate to STOP. Rest, recharge, reboot, and go out to seek inspirations outside your bubble and when you're ready, go back and start again.

Ms. Roma and Maan Agsalud

There's another game and raffle draw after the first talk and then we proceed to the second topic.

QUEST to WELLNESS by Nikki Torres (of Pretty Darn Fit). She practice veganism (she do not consume meat, fish or poultry and animal by products such as eggs, dairy products, etc. ) and also an advocate of holistic health, wherein she focuses on her whole being (mind, body and spirit) rather than focusing on specific body parts. She also shared to us ways to improve wellness. She told us to pay attention for things we enjoyed doing because it will constantly lift our mood. Don't forget to BREATHE.. Relax and quit obsessing with numbers. Gaining muscles is more important than losing weight or fats. Get enough sleep, Eat a rainbow (not literally) and get our nutrition facts straight. Get regular foot massage, take our eyes off the screen when it's time to rest and always make time to exercise.  The important lesson I learned from her is that, you have to prepare for the most important event - not the wedding, birthdays, summer (for bikini bod), but prepare for LIFE itself. Life happens everyday so never ever put a deadline.

Ms. Nikki Torres

After the second talk, we had a short break. We were served with yummy snacks to fill our tummy.

I also took the chance to visit the Brand partners / Sponsors Booth.

BRAND YOU-NIQUE by Isa Garcia and Bea Vergara founders of The Better Story Project. They shared that the The Better Story has 3 main values. Empowerment (they encourage women to become leaders), Mentorship (it is important to have people to look up to and be an inspiration) and Community (where everyone can share and build confidence). They also shared the people they looked up to and why. The most important lesson I learned from this talk is that you don't have to be afraid to get out of your bubbles because getting out of it will help you discover who you really are. As what Ms. Isa said, "You have to expand your narrative. Build your own story and take ownership of your life". Don't care about others opinion of you, you don't have to be liked, YOU HAVE TO BE AUTHENTIC.

Ms. Isa Garcia and Ms. BEa Vergara

FASHION WANDERLUST by Nicole Andersson . She shared to us the importance of finding our own personal style and her tips and tricks on how to dress up according to it. She also told us to FLAUNT what we have. And most importantly, our clothes doesn't have to be expensive, the way it fits to us is what matters. Even a 100 peso Ukay clothes will look good on us if it fits perfectly.

I'm so glad I said YES to sis Grace. I really learned a lot from our speakers. I also got the chance to meet new Bellas and got to spend time to make chicka with the old ones. :)

and it won't be complete without loot bags.

Hope you enjoy reading this post. : )  For more of the upcoming BDJ events be sure to check their website and follow their social media accounts. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram

Post-event: BDJ Rendezvous - Watch Me Shine!

(c) BDJ website
I've attended another BDJ Rendezvous this year. BDJ Rendezvous - Watch Me Shine was held at Glorietta 3 last June 27. I was at the venue around 11:00 AM. Since the registration will only start at 12:30 I decided to grab a bite at the nearest McDonald's outlet. The event started with a game and a raffle and was hosted by Sarah Carlos. If you don't know her, she will be the new Bea Bianca in Pangako Sa'yo (ABS-CBN Teleserye).

Sarah Carlos
After the game and the raffle, we then proceed to the first topic "Follow your Style Persona" by Ms. Kristine Garduque of the "The Heteroheroine".

Kristine Garduque
She talked about how to feel pretty and sexy while wearing comfortable laid-back clothes. She also talked about the common style mistakes.

Common Style Mistakes
> too much bling, too much skin
> poor fitting clothes
> bad proportion
> inappropriate clothing
> compromising comfort
> blindly following trends

The second topic was "Win the Financial Game" by Mr. Aya Laraya of "Pesos and Sense". This was the topic that I'm interested the most and the main reason why I decided to join the event. Now, I'm trying to visit his website once in a while to read and learn more about investing. ;)

What I've learned from Mr. Laraya's
> Investing is a choice between something good and something potentially better.
> You should know the purpose why are you investing. Is it for your retirement, for big purchases in the future or for your tax obligations.
> Learn to invest and how to do it (investing) smartly.
> The 3 key factors before you invest - Time, Money and Knowledge
> Where to invest - Stock Market, Bonds, Mutual Funds, Real Estate.

Mr. Aya Laraya
The next speaker was Ms. CJ Jimenez, a Professional MakeUp Artist and an International Image Consultant. Her topic was "MakeUp Rules to Live By". She first talked how MakeUp changed her life.

What I've learned from Ms. CJ
> The reason why do we need to wear makeup.
   * to gain confidence, for self and artistic expression, to create the image you want to project.
> How to set right makeup for your daily look.
   * know the purpose (if its for job interview, teaching pre-schooler, going to party or date)
   * the place (if it's air conditioned, in a hotel or in a mall, office or if you're going to commute or not)
   * time (day time, night time, sunny, windy or raining).
   * what will you be wearing (glamorous, simple, casual, corporate, colorful, etc).
> Basic make up rule for a chic like you.
   * take care of your skin (cleanse, tone, moisturize, block and exfoliate), eat healthy, sleep well, stop smoking)
   * always go with simple fresh look if your not sure
   * do not overdo your make up (one focal point on your face is enough).
   * remove your makeup every night.
   * use high quality products, right tools, and good application techniques.
> DO NOT CHANGE YOUR LOOK, JUST ENHANCE IT.

Ms. CJ Jimenez
After the third talk, we had a short break. We ate and visited the booths of Ponds, Ace Water Spa and Canon Philippines. Maila, Tasha and I posed at the Canon photo booth and asked the photographer to print 3 copies for the three of us. :)

The Ace Water Spa Booth's "Pachinko Machine". I won a fan. :P
Sarap :)
The last speaker was Ms. Karen Agustin-Ostrea, Bb. Pilipinas-Universe-2002 and an Image Consultant (Global Image Mangement). Her topic was "Keep it Real on Social Media". She told us this, "Your Online Image is People Perception of You". She then explained that image is no longer about your face, body and look but rather our image is attached on our presence online. She also talked about the Social Media Etiquette to follow.

Social Media Etiquette
> Keep it Real, but not to real. - do not post / express too much negative / negativity
> Be mindful of your post / comments online.
> Avoid posting opinions about people and controversial issues.
> Post photos that show you on a neutral or positive light.
> Don't flood people's timeline with hourly updates of your self - selfies, status updates, etc.

Ms. Karen Agustin-Ostrea
All in all I enjoyed the event. I learned a lot and can't wait for the next BDJ Rendezvous.

the BDJ loot bag

BDJ Rendezvous: #BDJMadeToFly

I've attended the BDJ Rendezvous: #MadeToFly event last April 18, which was held at Eastwood Mall Atrium. This was the second event that I attended from BDJ Power Planner (the first was the 2014 BDJ Passion Series: A Time to Give Back). According to the invites, we should be at the venue before 1 PM to register and to be included in the raffle. I arrived around 12:45 PM because I had a hard time looking for the the venue (it was my first time going there).

The event started with a game, wherein we have to look for a ZAP sticker under our seat. 3 Lucky Bellas won a LINE stuffed toy from ZAP. (Inggit ako! ^^v)

They invited 5 guest speakers to motivate us to travel and to see the world outside the comforts of our home and to give us tips and tricks about traveling.

The first one to talk was Ms. Cara Del Rosario - Dizon of Subic Grand Seas Resort. She discussed how to balance work and personal life. And how we should make time to explore and experience new things by traveling despite being busy with our career.

Ms. Cara Del Rosario - Dizon with Janeena Chan (host)

On the other hand, Ms. Tricia Gosingtian gave us some traveling beauty tips. She, together with Ms. Amanda from Pond's Institute showed us how to achieve the No Make Up Look using Pond's products (Pearl Cleansing Gel, Dewy Rose Gel and the BB Cream).

Ms. Tricia Gosingtian with Ms. Amanda

The third speaker, Ms. Nina Fuentes of justwandering.org talked about how to plan before traveling. She shared us her travel experience and the places she visited and how much did she spent. I want to travel too after seeing those places she visited and hearing all those experiences she made.

Here are some tips she gave us during her talk.
1. To fund your wanderlust, you can either sell your old things, sell your skills, start the 52 weeks project (which I am currently doing) or try to earn while traveling (this one works best for freelancer or those who work online).
2. Be alert of seat sales or visit skyscanner.com.ph for promo fares and cheap flights.
3. Travel slow. Take time to explore one place thoroughly instead of moving from one place to another in a short period of time.
4. If you just need a place to sleep, it is better to stay at hostels rather than in hotel to save money. Check airbnb.com for accommodations.

Ms. Nina Fuentes

And when you travel, you need to take a lot of photos (selfies, twofies, groufies ^^v) as remembrance of your trip. Mr. Eman de Leon, shared us some makeup tricks to be photo ready all the time using Revlon Make Up.

Mr. Eman De Leon with the model :)
The last speaker is none other than Ms. Donna Cuna - Pita of Cosmopolitan Ph. She shared to us some tips on how to travel light, what clothes, shoes and make-up to bring when traveling.

Here are some tips from Ms. Donna.
1. Check the weather forecast ahead of time. By doing so, you'll know what type of clothes, and shoes you'll bring.
2. Have a color scheme for your travel wardrobes.
3. Bring items that are travel friendly such as wrinkle resistant clothes and items that you can mix and match.
4. Bring comfortable footwear. Bring at least 3 footwear depending on the nature of your trip. And make sure to wear the heaviest one to lessen the baggage weight.
5. Bring the appropriate make-up depending on the climate. Make sure 2 bring at least 2 shades of lipstick (for day and night). It's better if the you'll bring makeup items that's multi-purpose to save space and to avoid added weight.

Ms. Donna Cuna-Pita
I learned a lot from all the speakers and I can't wait to join the next event. I'll make sure to apply everything I learned when it's my time to travel. Anyway, aside from the talks, there are games, raffle and contest held during the event.

Here's what I got :)
